Contact eczema, or contact dermatitis, is an inflammatory skin disease that primarily affects adults.
Contact eczema is a reaction to an allergen in contact with the skin.
The allergens in question are clothing (pants buttons, dyes, etc.), cosmetic products (perfumes, deodorants, etc.), drugs for skin application (antiseptics, etc.), and professional allergens (hair colorings for hairdressers, paintings in the building trades …).
The lesions typical of eczema first appear on the skin in contact with the allergen and then diffuse from the point of contact which can sometimes spread all over the body.
